If you can’t wait to feel the pulse of the vibrant nightlife, we give you some useful tips to help you plan your party night in London.
WHERE TO GO FOR PARTYING IN LONDON?
You can plan the budget, the times and transportations, but you’ll never know what you’re going to find around London night whether you’re in a fancy bar in Soho, in the super famous Ministry of Sound in South Bank or a circus bar in Camden.
Obviously, there are famous and popular areas to party in London and they depend on the budget and the social group you belong to: wealthy tourist and celebrities use to go to the most famous clubs in Soho, but regular, young and alternative locals scape to London’s East End for a less conventional night.
However, if you only have one night in London, our recommendation is to stay in the touristic zone, with hundreds of popular venues in Piccadilly Circus, Covent Garden or Leicester Square, and off course, in Soho, full of LGBTIQ clubs as well.
But if you have more time, or you prefer to avoid the touristic atmosphere looking for something more intense and real and for feeling the real life of the city, then you should escape to Shoreditch, that in the last decade has become the alternative cultural epicentre of the city.
Young professionals and expats use to gather in the Clapham neighbourhood, around High Street, full of bars and clubs and for a more bohemian atmosphere you should go around Peckham, specially in Rye Lane.
Friday nights are really famous in Hoxton, with the Old Street full of bars, and Islington is also a good choice, where you can find almost all kind of venues.
University students are taking Dalston neighbourhood for themselves, so the area is becoming a new party hub with a lot of fun 7 nights a week, mostly in Stoke Newington and Dalston Kingsland. There you can find good jazz clubs and live music venues.
WHEN TO PARTY IN LONDON
If you know where to look for, you can say London is a city that never sleeps. The party can start really early on weekends, being the more crowded time between 18:00 and 21.00 every day but in weekend the party goes on until later (generally around 3:00 or 3:30). Bars are open since early, that’s a fact but not every place is open and full of people until late.
Anyway, if you have some special bar or club in mind, give it a previous look on the website to plan your night, specially if you’re going in a week day.
HOW TO HAVE A NIGHT OUT IN LONDON WITHOUT BANKRUPTCY
A fun, long night out in London can take you to bankruptcy, almost literally. So, you better take some precautions and advices to save as much cash as you can.
As you may guess, weekends are more expensive, and the cheapest night, even in Soho, are on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Anyway, to spend a night in Soho during a weekend is a great experience and you probably want to live it, so, you better get to the place before 22:00 or 21:00, when cover charges starts.
Happy hour (from 17:00 to 20:00) is a good moment to go to bars and venues and enjoy great deals in drinks in the week. For these happy hours, some bars have set an entry fee between 20:30 and 00:00.
Pubs are usually cheaper than bars and way cheaper than clubs, and a cheap choice in pubs are the more than 40 locations in London of the Sam Smith Pub.
BEST BARS AND CLUBS IN LONDON
Fortunately, there is a 24 hours tube service on weekend in London, so you can stay out as long as you want and even go from one area to another. So, you only need to be close to some Night tube line stations, or night bus routes stops.
If we talk about probably the best option for a night out, then, again, we have to mention Soho, with a great, wide offer of clubs and bars, walking distance from each other and to some of the hotel districts as well. But if you’re planning to go for an alternative night, then your best option is Shoreditch, and buses are the best way to get there.
Other convenient area for partying around is Camden, also very well communicated.
